You know you’re officially a local when you find yourself complaining about traffic because you had to stop at the single traffic light in town. In the Shenandoah Valley, 30 miles translates to 30 minutes whether zipping down I-81 from Winchester to Woodstock or enjoying a more scenic drive along one of the adjacent back roads.
Interstate 81 runs the length of the Shenandoah Valley providing easy access from town to town. For those preferring to avoid the interstate, primary roads such as US Route 11, 211, 340 or 522 and State Routes 7 and 55 offer excellent alternatives that wont slow you down and provide an scenic network connecting the many small towns and cities located throughout the Northern Shenandoah Valley.
Public transportation is currently available within the City of Winchester, Warren County and Shenandoah County. A variety of greenways exist throughout the region providing transportation alternatives to those looking to get around without a car.
Even accessing major metropolitan areas such as Washington, D.C., and Baltimore are within a one to 2 hour drive.
